The 2018 OATC Convention Committee invites you to join us for the 46th Annual Convention being held in Hood River, Oregon, at the Hood River Inn – up to 20 hours of CPE. Our theme will be Follow the Money, focusing on businesses that frequently operate on a cash basis. Topics will include:

  • Auditing Cash Businesses
  • Interviewing and reviewing the return
  • The Entertainment industry: Artists, Musicians, writers and Professional Athletes
  • Clergy
  • Other specialties
  • Ethics



Your registration fee includes:

  • Printed handouts for all registrations made before the June 15 print date. Later registrations will have access only to the online copies of the handouts.
  • The following meals
    • Thursday: Continental Breakfast, Lunch
    • Friday: Continental Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
    • Saturday: Brunch

    Note: A Supplemental Meal Package covering these specific meals is available for companions eating with attendees for $175.00

Meet Our Speakers

Jayne Williams

Jayne T Williams began her tax career in 1987, became an Enrolled Agent in 1988 and a Licensed Tax Consultant in 1989. She is a former partner in the Oregon Tax Practice Institute.  

She served for four years as President of NATC and five years as Vice President of NATC after eleven years as editor of the Oregon Enrolled Agent newsletter. 

Founding E-T Tax Service, Inc, in 1992, Jayne started teaching on the tax education circuit in 1993. She has taught updates, seminars on tax basics and ethics. She likes the challenge of new topics to explore, finding that once she has done “her homework” the clients appear with the need for her new expertise! 

Her professional training is in education. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education 

Jayne is also an avid reader. She is a collector of CPA romance writer Diane Kelly, starting with her series “Death and Taxes.” 




Rick K. Davey, EA, LTC has been preparing taxes since 1981. His experience as a manager of a large tax practice has given him exposure to a broad range of small businesses and their issues. He is an Enrolled Agent and a Licensed Tax Consultant. Rick has taught tax classes since 1983 and enjoys sharing the knowledge he has gained both with his clients as well as his colleagues.

Laurie Brock Collette EA, LTC

Laurie Brock Collett earned an MS in mathematics from the University of Oregon. Concurrently Laurie taught and tutored under-graduate mathematics courses at both UM and UO.

When her two children were young she became interested in part-time work preparing income tax returns. She tested and became licensed in the state of Oregon in 1991. She passed the Enrolled Agents exam in 1996. She co-founded Cascade Tax Professionals, Inc. in 1995. The children are grown now, but the tax business continues to change and thrive.

Laurie's teaching background provided a natural transition to educating tax professionals. She taught the required Oregon BASIC course at the local community college for three years. She has helped train AARP - VITA volunteers. She has traveled the state teaching updates, clergy taxation, bankruptcy, ethics and many other topics.

Accounting and tax preparation may have become the main career, but teaching has always been her first passion. Laurie loves any opportunity to teach, learn and share knowledge.

Shelli Huston MS, CPA

Shelli is an Oregon native. She attended Warner Pacific College where she received a Bachelors in Business with an Emphasis in Accounting. After obtaining her CPA's license, she continued on to Golden Gate University where she received her Master's Degree in Taxation.

Shelli worked in a small tax firm for many years. In 2006, she opened up her own tax and accounting firm. She has watched her business grow and expand to include teaching and writing. Shelli has over 20 years of experience in personal, business, estate, trust, and gift taxation, as well as QuickBooks and payroll. She enjoys working with clients of all types and small businesses, especially new businesses.

Shelli is passionate about the importance of being the best professionals we can be. This profession comes with an inherent integrity that takes work to uphold. Through her participation in education, she is excited to assist in upholding the professionalism of the accounting and tax profession.

Its been a number of years since we've been had the Convention at the Hood River Inn in Hood River. The has been updated since we were here last, all the rooms as well as the conference facilities. The food is excellent.
